Q. Who is SHARE?
A. SHARE is the fundraising arm of the Uniting Church Synod of Victoria & Tasmania. It is the Uniting Church's only official statewide appeal that raises funds for UnitingCare's community services and other worthy community groups.
Q. What does SHARE do?
A. SHARE provides financial assistance through grants for UnitingCare agencies and community programs providing child and family support, youth and disability services, alcohol and drug rehabilitation, supported accommodation projects, aged care services and emergency relief centres.
SHARE also runs a Lenten appeal and disaster appeals on behalf of the Uniting Church and coordinates UnitingCare Pancake Day and the UnitingCare Christmas Appeal with Target, on behalf of UnitingCare.
Q. Who does SHARE help?
A. SHARE helps all people regardless of race, age, religion or gender.
Q. Are my gifts to SHARE tax-deductible?
A. Yes. All donations of $2.00 and over are tax-deductible.
Q. When did SHARE start?
A. SHARE officially began in 1980. The first appeal was conducted in July 1980 under the theme "this time called life was meant to share". A major campaign was held amongst congregations where all members were encouraged to become involved in SHARE.
Q. Why was SHARE created?
A. SHARE was created from the desire to promote and support the community service work that was being carried out by the Uniting Church.
Q. Does SHARE support agencies/programs outside of Victoria & Tasmania?
A. SHARE grants are only provided to UnitingCare agencies and community organisations in Victoria and Tasmania however SHARE does fundraise for national and international agencies & organisations through the Lenten appeal, disaster appeals and the earmarking program.
